| History of the Fort St. John Hospital Auxiliary |
|
Our history stems back to February 24, 1932 when the first meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary was held. Of the 17 ladies present, Mrs. C.M. Finch was elected President, Mr. J. Somon, Vice-President, and Mrs. J.H. Cummins, Secretary-Treasurer. During that year $400 was raised by the newly formed Auxiliary to assist with the operation of the local hospital. In 1953, the Auxiliary was able to purchase a badly needed washer and dryer. In 1995 the Auxiliary became known as the FSJ General Hospital Auxiliary Society.
In 1999, A Memorial Garden was established in recognition of our past members. Through the continuing support of our community and volunteers, thousands of dollars has been raised to purchase the many needed pieces of equipment. Two of the fund raisers are a Spring Raffle and a Bake Sale to raise needed funds. ServicesThe Auxiliary purchased televisions at $1,000 each, making it possible to rent them out at an affordable price. Gift ShoppeThe Gift Shoppe is open weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It features a great selection of gift ideas, baby items, and confectionaries you’re sure to find something special. Vending Machines Owned and operated by the Auxiliary, are set up in the lobby for availability to everyone.
